Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Vietnam
posted November 2009
Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona volunteers will travel to Vietnam to support the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Southeast Asia the week of November 14, 2009. Larry Gudis, Darcy Rose, Gil Rodriguez, Karen Stone and Larry Woolford will travel to Dong Xa, about a 90 minute drive from Hanoi, to begin a week of building in partnership with families in the Mekong Delta. Dong Xa is a traditional fishing village with most of its households earning a living through fishing or farming. This project is a part of the affiliate's tithe program.
Habitat’s Carter Work Project is an annual, internationally-recognized week of building that brings attention to the need for simple, decent and affordable housing in partnership with low-income families. President and Mrs. Carter have faithfully given one week of their time each year since 1984 to help build Habitat homes and raise awareness about the need for simple, decent housing. The Carter Work Project has been held in India, Korea, the Philippines, Mexico, South Africa, Hungary and throughout the United States.
A Valuable Tax Credit for You
posted November 2009
Did you know a charitable tax credit is much more favorable to you as an Arizona State taxpayer? It’s true. The end of the year is just around the corner and a charitable tax credit can help reduce your 2009 Arizona tax liability. By making a gift to Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona you can help a future Habitat homeowner realize the dream of homeownership and receive a credit for what you would otherwise give to the state.
Qualifying for a tax credit has never been easier. Arizona tax law stipulates taxpayers can get a dollar for dollar tax credit of up to $400 on a joint return and $200 on a single return for charitable contributions made to qualifying charitable organizations. And … HFHCAZ qualifies! The previous base line year requirement has been eliminated although tax payers are still required to itemize deductions.
To learn more about how you can take advantage of the charitable tax credit and make a gift to HFHCAZ, please click here or call 602.262.8661.
As always, we suggest you first consult with your accountant, CPA or tax advisor.

Give Your Donations to Habitat ReStores
posted November 2009
Habitat ReStores needs help acquiring donations. With the struggling economy we are in desperate need of donations from both the public and corporate sectors. We would like everyone to spread the word that we are accepting usable donations of building materials (lumber, doors, dual pane windows, lighting, ceiling fans, electrical items, kitchen and bathroom cabinets and sinks). We need appliances 10 years or newer in good working order. We also would love furniture. Donations help further the Habitat mission.
Make sure to spread the word that we have three locations in the Valley:
